Description

MM6 and Salomon had built a run of increasingly experimental releases together — thigh-high trail boots, sneakers with drawstring-bag uppers. FW23 turned towards something more wearable: two takes on the Cross Mid, a reworked XT-15 backpack, and an overdyed ACS Pro in three colourways.

I worked on the colourisation and materialisation across the range. With MM6, the house language is treatment rather than applied graphic — process left visible in the finished object — which puts colour and material at the centre of the collaboration rather than at the end of it.

The ACS Pro was the clearest example. Overdyeing a technical shoe means accepting that mesh, laminated rubber and synthetic panels each take dye differently; the result comes from letting that variance show rather than correcting it, and holding it consistent enough to reproduce across three colourways. The Cross Mid posed a different problem: a toggled waterproof gaiter over an inner slip-on shoe, where the colour has to resolve across three constructions that meet on the same silhouette.

The pieces released across October and November 2023.
